June 02,2008 Battle of Jericho by Kendra Norman Bellamy
Battle of Jericho by Kendra Norman-Bellamy is a great testament to keeping the faith. Peter Jericho, a proud sergeant in the Marines, and his wife, Jan, of nearly thirteen years have separated. All things were perfect for the loving couple until one day when it seemed that all had gone wrong. Now a year and a half later, Jan and their daughter, Kyla, are still in Shelton Heights, Georgia with her mother, Leona. Six months after Jan left, Peter is called off to duty in Iraq. Only weeks before Peter is scheduled to return home, he is captured and held as a prisoner. Will Peter make it out alive and be able to reconcile his relationship with his wife?
All Peter knows to do is stay in prayer. Jan is left to worry about the man that she loves. Her best friend, Rachel, and her mother insist she not worry about him because they are no longer together. Jan holds on to the faith that her husband will return and that they will work things out. As Peter is held prisoner, he also keeps the faith. He hopes that he will return safely and reconnect with his family. The holier than thou character of Jan's mother is most interesting. Everything to her was a sin. Hopefully those that have similar beliefs or know someone like this, can see how absurd it is and maybe learn a little about the interpretation of scriptures. Norman-Bellamy does a great job with character development. The story is captivating as she takes you into the life of a soldier. You feel connected and almost like you are there. It is the second book of the Shelton Heights Series and a definite must read. CLICK HERE to vote and read other reviews posted by Donnica.

June 02,2008 My Manz and 'Em by JM Benjamin
My Manz and `Em by J.M. Benjamin is a hardcore hit coming straight at you from the streets of New Jersey. This is the life story of Malik Jones with vivid descriptions outlining his brief street run, his locked down time and his climb back on top. Malik and his sisters are being raised by a single mother who only wants the best for her children, but when there is little to no income coming in and rising bills what is left to do? Malik decides to take matters into his own hands and steps up to be the man of the house. Running his street team and wanting more, Cheddar, Pete, Phil and Doub all start out making little paper but with Malik's credibility it makes them one of the best hustlers in Jersey. Rising to the top and smashing all competitors, this team is on a straight get money mission. Until there is a snitch amongst them and Malik has to take the fall; and pays with ten years of his life behind bars. Down but definitely not out, Malik reinvents himself with the help of his mother; the only person that held him down while doing his bid. Practically left for dead his Manz and `Em refused to write, to look at for his mom and little sisters and basically turned their backs on him. Becoming a Muslim and re-evaluating his former life, Malik gets another chance out in the streets to make things right. No one wants to hire a convict so where does that leave Malik? He finds himself running back to the familiar streets of New Jersey. Refusing the help of his Manz and Em, Justice, his former cellmate, offers him half of his street fame. Getting down for his crown and hustling his way back up top, Malik has it all together or so he thinks. The crew is mad that he not only came back but is seeing more cash then they ever will, and they set out to seek revenge. Will Malik get out of the game once and for all? I loved this book with its vicious blood thirsty scenes. This is one of the best street-lits I have read all year. I recommend this book to readers of all genres. There is a definite lesson to be learned here. Read at your own risk! CLICK HERE to vote for Cheryl's review and read other reviews by her.

June 02,2008 Ask Somebody by Kamah-Alicia Scott
Ask Somebody, by Kamah-Alicia Scott, is a twisted tale of deceit that will have you shaking your head throughout the read. Zoe Simone Masequai had it all mapped out. As a curvy size eight with a nice face and an honor student upon admission to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, Simone had it going on and would no doubt be `that' girl on campus. With a cluster of female friends in the midst of her rise to popularity and an ever-growing list of men lusting for her, some of whom were her friend's boyfriends, how would Simone be able to maintain such an intricate web without becoming tangled in it herself? Ask Somebody has a solid plot, but it needs editing and the transitions between scenes needs a bit of tweaking. It was a quick read and I was genuinely concerned about the main character. Relationships between the characters at times were confusing, but I was able to get through it because of my intrigue with Simone's issues. Ask Somebody would be an entertaining read if you are looking for drama and are not a stickler when it comes to editing. June 02,2008 Strongholds by Vanessa Griggs
Pastor George Landris stands before his congregation with a very important request. He asks everyone to remove their masks and place their strongholds or weaknesses at the alter. For many, their strongholds could not be relieved with just prayer. It was going to take work, desire and faith. Pastor Landris was surprised at the response to his request. Vanessa Davis Griggs, in Strongholds, introduces readers to the members of Pastor Landris' congregation, at the newly formed Followers of Jesus Faith Worship Center, who are struggling with weaknesses, such as addictions, selfishness, adultery, workaholic, mental illness and obsessions. Each member comes forward to tell his/her story and how their weakness has affected their lives. However, Pastor Landris finds himself in the middle of a storm as the members request to meet with him personally. With so many requests, Pastor Landris puts together a team of counselors to assist him with meeting with everyone. He was not prepared for all that was being revealed. Griggs has once again put together a very inspirational and moving story of faith. As with all of her novels, Griggs references biblical scriptures as each character talks about their strongholds and their struggles to break free. As the reader, I was able to identify with the weaknesses and struggles of each character. You will laugh, cry and shout as you experience each character's struggle. Griggs raised a lot of questions that are debatable and she raised the eyebrows of those that lack faith. The story ended with a very moving sermon from Pastor Landris that will encourage readers to anticipate the final segment to this trilogy. June 02,2008 Silenced by Nicole Givens Kurtz
Nicole Givens Kurtz presents a futuristic murder mystery in her latest book, Silenced. In the year 2146, private inspector, Cybil Lewis, hesitantly takes on a new case at the request of her inspector-in- training, Jane. Despite Cybil's dislike of the victim's mother, Mayor Annabelle Christensen, she and Jane investigate Amanda's mysterious death. Amanda appears to be the ideal daughter of a high-profile politician. Unfortunately, her image slowly crumbles and threatens her mother's chances of being elected Governor. It seems that no matter where the investigation leads them, Cybil and Jane's progress is halted by lies and half-truths. Givens Kurtz paints an interesting picture of the future: robotic waiters, eternal sleep as a form of imprisonment, and hi-tech medical treatment. Some of these technologies may not seem advanced for some science fiction fans. The story's tempo slows a bit in some places. Cybil's character will win fans with her feisty attitude; however, the supporting cast of characters leave something to be desired. Silenced is an interesting change of pace for readers in need of something new and different. CLICK HERE to vote and read other reviews by Michelle.

June 01,2008 Too Little, Too Late by Victoria Christopher Murray
In Too Little, Too Late, Victoria Christopher Murray brings back Jasmine Larson. She is living happily with her husband, Hosea Bush. That is until the secrets that she kept from him start to appear one after the other. Not only does Jasmine have secrets, but Hosea seems to have secrets of his own. His ex-fiance, Natasia, appears as a new edition to Hosea's show, Bring It On. They are scheduled to be in Los Angeles, for a three month project. Jasmine recognizes immediately that Natasia is a woman cut from the same cloth as she. Natasia is in it to win her man back. Jasmine does all she can to stop her from breaking up her marriage. Meanwhile, Jasmine has to deal with the deceit that has her reluctant to return to Los Angeles and running into Brian Lewis, her former lover. Brian has his own issues with being a sex-addict and trying to save his marriage with his wife, Alexis. He thinks she can handle him sleeping around more than she can handle him having a baby with Jasmine Larson. Jasmine almost broke up the marriage of her best friend. Can Hosea forgive Jasmine, yet again, for the lies? Will Natasia succeed at getting her man back? Will Alexis be able to handle that Brian is a sex-addict AND slept with her enemy?? Murray takes us into the lives of these two couples and airs ALL of their dirt. You did not have to read the other books, Temptation or A Sin and A Shame, in the life of Jasmine, to know what is going on to be TOTALLY invested in the characters. You do not know whether to root for Jasmine to win or to have her really pay for all of her deceit. But you will love every minute of this book! I could not put the book down. Murray combines true life drama with biblical principles. Too Little, Too Late is EXCELLENT! If you found this review helpful, please CLICK HERE to vote.

June 01,2008 Sexapades by Honey B
Sexcapades by Honey B is hot off the presses and in the wrong hands can turn an unsuspecting person into a NYMPO. This book is not only filled with great detailed sex scenes; you have a combination of how-tos, self-gratification, tips on threesomes and a look at voyeurism through the eyes of the professionals. Nick and Natalie are extremely competitive, not only in the work place but in the bedroom as well. What started out as a friendship with perks has turned into a love affair, but can Nick convince Natalie that he wants more than sex? Natalie is an amazing woman with a take charge attitude and turning men out is her thing. While working on a million dollar deal, she realizes that she might want more than sex from Nick. Is it possible to take their swinging relationship down the aisle? Can these swingers become monogamous?
Justin is overworked and unappreciated by everyone in his life or so it seems. Married under pressure, hating his wife, his life and his job, Justin has a dark secret that will cause major disaster if it hits the light of day. Lola and Devaughn are the married couple that Nick and Natalie swing with from time-to-time, but when Devaughn catches feelings for Natalie can he separate love and lust? Lola is a work-a-holic but loves to live in the fast lane so playing with Nick and Natalie gives her a breath of fresh air in her stale marriage. Devaughn is a kept man, who when propositioned with a deal of a lifetime, has to decide if he should throw caution to the wind and lose himself in the game called life. This book explores sexuality, competitiveness, creativity and is well-written. The storyline is a definite page-turner along with the vivid descriptions and colorful characters is a must read. So get your body lotion and your boo and get ready for a smooth ride. I recommend this book to all erotica lovers. CLICK HERE to vote.

May 26,2008 Love Hard Live Free: Conversations with She by Shaunteka Latrese Curry
Internal Conversing Shaunteka Latreses Currys, Love Hard Live Free: Conversations with She is a poetry compilation that takes the reader on a journey through a poets internal conversations. Ms. Curry deals with love, life, politics and the spirit in this collection. One of her most poignant poems, In This House touches on how unsafe a child can feel in her own home. I could literally visualize the fear of a child growing up in a place that should by all accounts be the safest place on earth, but is a place of fear and pain. My favorite section of the book is a section entitled, The Room. The poet tells us the poems were written during a dark time in her life, however, though dark, the eleven poems in this section are also about seeking light. I recommend this volume of poetry to all who love honesty and truth in the written word. CLICK HERE to vote for this review and to read other reviews by Angelia.
